Credit derivatives terminology

Bankruptcy: Insolvency, or a legally-recognised situation where a debtor is unable to pay off his debts in full. In credit derivatives parlance, bankruptcy can have a substantially wider meaning if the parties choose ISDA documentation. ISDA documentation defines bankruptcy to include several elements which includes winding up resolution, and even steps preparatory to bankruptcy.
